Hello, everybody. It's Bre from Affordable HomeCare and welcome to this week's episode of Senior Care TV. This week's topic is going to be lighthearted and fun. I thought it would be a good idea to give you all a gift guide on what to give the senior in your life this year. I love the holidays and everything about them. So I've done a little research and hopefully I can help you all out. Give you some ideas on what to give the senior in your life.

Something that I came across that would be a great gift idea for anybody but could be really specific to the senior in your life would be a monthly subscription box. There are some really cool things out there now that could be very specific to their interests. For example, something I thought was really neat was a monthly flowery delivery. Imagine getting flowers to your door every month or specialty chocolate. Some of them are like one month it's chocolates from Belgium the next it's from, you know, France or something like that. Something that keeps them engaged and looking forward to what may be coming next. You know, home cooked meals that they can prepare themselves. It's something for them to look forward to every month. And it's the gift that keeps on giving.

Something else I came across that I thought was really neat was a digital photo frame. Now, they have come a long way. Now you can control the photos that are being put on display. It's a simple email feature. It's very convenient. You just simply send photos from anywhere and they arrive in seconds. So that way you can always be updating and changing the photos as you go along. So they're not looking at the same ones over and over again.

Something else that is really neat that I actually gave to my grandma a few years ago was a memory book or a journal. I asked her to document her life story. And I asked, you know, when she was finished if she wouldn't mind sharing it with the whole family. This is something very meaningful for both the recipient and their loved ones. It will also keep them busy too. Another good idea in relation to the memory book would be a family heirloom recipe journal. If, you know, writing the life story isn't their thing, maybe they would like to share their recipes with the entire family.

Something else that, you know, right now I think everybody could use would be a big hug. And if you can't do that, what about a weighted blanket? I love them, it's literally like getting a hug. Keeps you nice and warm, my kids even like them. If they're feeling a little restless or I'm trying to get them to settle down at the end of the night or something, it has sort of a calming effect. I think that could be a great gift for any senior in your life. They do go by weight too, which makes it a little easier for you to select the right weight choice for you.

A large screen digital clock that displays the date, the time, the day a week. You can get them in bright colors, big, bold letters, that could be convenient for any senior in your life. Especially if, you know, they're starting to have memory issues and things like that.

Or something else I thought was pretty neat was a Christmas or holiday card display box. You could go an extra step and get it personalized for them. It is a great way for them to show off the cards that they get each year. They're very proud of each and every, you know, holiday card that they get and what a great way for them to show their friends and family the cards that they've received that year.

Lastly, you know, if you're on a budget or, you know, it's just the senior who has everything that you're thinking, you know, what could I possibly get them? They have everything that they could possibly need. All anybody really wants is your time. You can make a homemade coupon book filled with, you know, a coupon for a home cooked meal that you make together or a visit from so-and-so to come and have tea together, coffee, or you know of an activity that you could all do together. Be creative with this, you know, find ideas that they would really love and put it in the coupon book and they can use them all year round. You know, all they really want is your time.

If you don't have a senior in your life, consider setting up a visit or calling your local senior living center and find out a way that you can get involved in how maybe you can set up a virtual meeting with them, or, you know, an activity that you could do together. You know, your time is priceless.
