Alzheimer's Association — Greater Michigan Chapter

We follow the Alzheimer's Association's published caregiver resources, attend their family-education events across Southeast Michigan, and refer families to the 24/7 Helpline at 800-272-3900 — the single most useful first call after a dementia diagnosis.

Relationship status — pending. A formal partnership conversation with the Greater Michigan Chapter is in progress. Until it is finalized, we describe what is true today: we follow Association-published resources and refer families to their Helpline.

How the Alzheimer's Association shapes our dementia care

Dementia care is the area of home care where getting the framework right matters most. The Alzheimer's Association is the leading national authority on caregiver practices for Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, and the Greater Michigan Chapter does the on-the-ground work for families in our service area.

Our caregiver preparation for dementia cases aligns with the Association's Dementia Care Practice Recommendations — the same evidence-based framework that shapes care planning at memory-care facilities and in-home dementia programs nationally. We treat their published resources as the baseline, and add the home-specific operational layer (routines, environmental safety, family-caregiver support) that families actually need at the kitchen table.

Evidence-based framework

Our dementia-care approach follows the Alzheimer's Association's Dementia Care Practice Recommendations and the CARES caregiver principles.

Family-caregiver support

We refer family caregivers to Association support groups and education programs because the family caregiver is the single most important person in the care plan.

24/7 Helpline first

For any newly-diagnosed family, we recommend calling 800-272-3900 before calling us. The Helpline is free, no-commitment, and staffed by people who do nothing else.
